From my earliest memories I have always enjoyed the process of creating art. I spent my primary school holidays with another arty friend drawing and creating with our grey leads and very treasured Derwent pencils. It was from this early start that I realised I had the love of creating detailed artworks. I would spend hours trying to get it to look realistic, left often frustrated because it never looked right to me. In high school I continued on with my love for creating and by year 12 I achieved top scores and awards in all the art areas including graphics art. It was during this time that my uncle passed away. My Auntie gave me his Yachica camera and an instant love for photography was formed. I finally got the detail I was looking for!
I finished my Diploma in Photography at RMIT in 2003. At the final exhibition my artwork was the only one that sold. This same artwork later went on to be runner up in ANZANG and published in Australian Geographic 'Wild Australasia'. 2003 was also the start of a new era. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY was unleashed and Photoshop was introduced to me. I ran out and bought myself a Canon 10D. Now I had the ability to create more surreal detailed, manipulated and composited artwork! Bliss!
Compositing allows me to bring out my artistic endeavors. Creating an image that is realistic with detail but is surreal in concept.
Perfectionist is a word I would describe myself when it comes to the art I create. I find it hard to say an artwork is finished and can spend days to months working on perfecting my compositing artwork. This means I may only create a few personal pieces a year. My personal artworks have a story, a meaning and reason behind the making of the artwork. I aim to evoke an emotion and that the viewer can find their own story within the image.
All my artworks use my own personal photography collection, no stock images are used. All my artworks are numbered and only a certain amount will ever be printed. All prints are printed on archival paper with archival inks. If you wish to be the only one to have a particular artwork and I have not sold any prior to I am happy to negotiate a price for a one off piece price.
I always aiming to make ordinary into extraordinary.
